Title: Poker on TV is boring
Post by: idolminds on Friday, January 12, 2007, 09:27:24 PM
Before I go to bed I watch a little TV..just flip stations and see whats on. For the last week I've noticed "Poker After Dark", some NBC poker show.

I've come to the conclusion that there is no way to televise a card game in an interesting way. Who watches this shit?

What I don't understand is that every station under the sun feels the need to have at least one poker show.  Enough already.  The fad is over.

It's over, really?  Thank God.

It's not over.  Trust me.  It will be, and it's getting there, but it isn't yet.

It won't be long.  Pop Culture will turn on it soon.

It's still a pretty common game.  And casinos still have rooms that play Texas Hold'em.  I don't think it'll be over anytime soon.

What is worse are the commentary people. Their attempts to make the thing exciting sound so fake and bother me.

I don't think that it will be over anytime soon, but the craze has definitely worn off. I used to watch them when they started, and it was interesting, but I tried to watch one lately and it was boring as hell. I don't understand how people can watch that for any significant period of time.
