Samuli Syvahuoko, former Co-Founder of Remedy Studios (Max Payne 1 and 2 developers), plans a new studio named RECOIL GAMES.
Their focus will be next-gen action games -- and they have one planned to likely announce in later 2007.
Many of these employees at Recoil have worked for Remedy, EA, and UbiSoft -- just to name a few past studios some of these games worked for, in the past. (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3158327)
Co-Founder of Remedy Establishes New Studio
Recoil Games to focus on next-gen action games.
By Patrick Klepek, 03/29/2007
As Remedy Entertainment chips away at survival horror Alan Wake for Xbox 360 and PC, former co-founder Samuli Syvahuoko (a man whose name has symbols that won't even display on 1UP) has announced his new plan: Recoil Games. The studio will focus on next-generation action games with "the scope, feel and ensemble cast of disaster movies."
They're targeting releases for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, and their first game will apparently be unveiled sometime later in 2007.
Recoil Games has enlisted a number of team members from all across the world, as well, including folks from Electronic Arts, Codemasters, Guerilla Games, Housemarque, Remedy Entertainment, Treyarch and Ubisoft.

Um... Who cares.

Um... Who cares.
Hey, who knows....
...Maybe we'll have another awesome shooter on our way from some of the former Max Payne makers....
-
I'm in the who cares camp. If there's no announced project, it isn't interesting.

I'm standing in the who cares camp holding a banner saying "stop living in the past man".

I'm also there, but with a bigger sign. It says "Who cares? It'll shut down in a year anyways"

Haha Yeah sorry D I don't mean to be harsh but it was funny ;)

Yea I have to admit I honestly found the item interesting.

Well a developer is only as interesting as their games otherwise their dorks with their very own "dream" jobs.
Sorry that's a little nasty but it's true, their just developers with a few games under their belt who have created a new company.

I'm with Jedi and Que. It isn't news unless its a fabled dev house like id or Valve or something. Even then it's a stretch. For anyone else there has to be news of a game in the pipeline or something.
Otherwise it's like posting a thread that says "Simon Cowell farted." I mean it's just pointless.

Sheesh....Am I the only one who loved Max Payne here...?
Maybe, am I just too hopeful that this new company w/ some ex-Remedy makers will make another great shooter game????

B/c I used to (figure) roller skate??? Is that why???

We all liked Max Payne most likely, but this just doesn't seem like news. If they announce a project, then its news. Until then, it's just another studio. One ex-Remedy guy doesn't mean its going to be great, or even the inclusion of people from the other studios mentioned (though I have to say, Treyarch hasn't been mentioned in a long time... did they even do anything after Draconis for the Dreamcast?).

I'm serious, Jedi.
I skated for over 15 years (skated since 1990), competitively.

Back to Ex-Remedy and Recoil, I wonder if they would buy the IP rights for Max Payne 3, which Take 2 seems to own.
That could be interesting, if Recoil made Max 3.

....never tell anyone that. Seriously, don't. Although, I do have to admit that I"m impressed with the absolute lack of shame.
-
Max Payne would be going for a pretty penny. I highly doubt any developer would be able to buy it, let alone some new studio. Maybe the publisher they line up with would have the funds for such a thing, but I wouldn't think that a likely scenario.

Actually, most people who knew nothing of the sport, were actually amazed at what I did.
I'm proud of being a 2-time Nat'l placement and a World Class Skater for numerous years, thanks. :P

Well, yeah -- the Max Payne games did sell very well.
You're probably right -- 2K wouldn't sell it, unless for a big penny.
I bet Id Software and Microsoft could afford it, heh. :P
