I've been working on it this afternoon. Took me forever to find the right kind of heart shape I wanted. Not sure about the font, let me know what you think. I picked something fairly simple to make it easier to make the stencil. I thought a medieval/gothic font looked good but might detract from the simpleness of the overall design.
Later tonight or tomorrow I will work on making the stencil/screen to print these off. Going to try the modge-podge/nylons/embroidery hoop method, see if I can make it work for me.

Large version of design (http://user.mc.net/~pbsmith/pics/art/heart2.png).
If the method I'm trying works out, I'll go ahead and make another one for the Shadow of the Colossus design.
-
That's completely awesome. I'll take 27.
-
must... have... I'll take a medium.
-
Oh man that is perfect. Large for me! Yea im a fatty.
-
Very nice indeed. Maybe in another color... like red on black or something, and I'd be sold. I'm just not very fond of wearing bright red clothing.
-
I was just capturing the look of the playing pieces. Red on black is easy enough to do as well. Heres what it would look like:

Then I thought, you know...this would be simple enough to turn into a 2 pass deal. On a black shirt I'd need 2 stencils, one for while and one for red. This is what that would look like:

Going to experiment with that....
-
I sorta figuring color changes would be easy, but didn't want to get all assumy on you.
So yeah, I can dig it.
-
I like black, so... black is always good. =) I dig the two-color deal.
-
How much for a small red?
-
Not sure yet. I've gotta make them first...heh.
-
So I'm a terrible procrastinator, but it might be good in this case. I found some sheer curtain material at the thrift store for cheap to make the first test stencil. Also, this week the craft store has blank tshirts on sale. I picked up 3 red ones (2 XL, 1 L) and a XL black shirt. Maybe I'm getting fat, but the sizes seem smaller than labeled. Oh well, they'll work.
So I'll work on the project this week, post the results, and if they turn out an people want them I can hit the craft store again while the sale is still on.
-
Sounds good. I'll pay whatever it costs for an XXL (I'm fatter than you).
-
If the test stencil fails, I can always make a bunch of the good ol freezer paper ones. Just have to make a new one for every shirt. Not that big a deal since the design is fairly straight forward to cut out.
-
We'll keep our fingers crossed!
-
Success! Well, my test run anyway. The edges aren't as defined as the freezer paper stencil, but as a bonus this stencil is reusable. So I don't have to cut individual stencils for each shirt. I also kind of messed up on the K in steak (and at the very top of the heart), didn't fill it all in completely. And I noticed the thin part kind of bled. Nothing I can really do about that right now.
Though I think it looks kind of cool, like its worn in or something. Kind of a grunge thing. Heres some pics:

Just to prove its a shirt, and give you some idea what it looks like in its entirety.

So let me know what you think. If it looks good to you I can make a shirt this way. Or I can go make another test with freezer paper. I also haven't tried to make the 2-tone heart on black. As for cost, I don't think it'll be any more than $15, depending on what it costs to ship.
-
I'd buy one.
-
I love the 2-tone one on black, so if you're willing to go for it I'm willing to pay whatever extra cost, but yeah, this looks great either way!
-
Stupid question: What is the icon? I have not seen it before. It seems to reference something everyone is familiar with, though.
That said, I really like the design. I'd love to get one. 15$ ain't bad at all, but I don't have a Paypal or anything (just a credit card). If we could figure out a way to transfer the funds, I'd love a small.

We were playing Zombies!!! the board game at the meet. The health tokens are hearts, white on red. Julia thought they were steaks, so we dubbed them "life steaks".
So I've got stencils cut and tomorrow I'll attempt to make a red/white on black. I did find the font I chose wasnt good for cutting stencils, with the little curves and such, so I'm going to find another one, something similar. Or I might just use the modge podge stencil version for the lettering. We'll see.

Success!

There was one problem, and you'll see the edges of the red area arent as defined in some place. The stencil didnt adhere flat due to some steam. It wasnt from the iron, I think it was from the white paint. I'll have to fully set it before I add the second color to stop it from doing that. But otherwise it turned out quite nicely. Now to find a font for the wording...
-
Now that's pretty damned sweet.
-
Changed my mind. Want one of that type. That looks awesome.
-
Yeah, that's pretty sweet. I'll wear one every day until the next meet just to scare people.
-
Yeah, I want that black one in a Small. Pleeeeeeeeeease.
