Title: It is ninety degrees inside my house
Post by: WindAndConfusion on Saturday, September 01, 2007, 12:08:43 AM
And my thermostat is broken.

I am going to die.

But at least I don't have to worry about dying from WEST NILE VIRUS.

(That orange writing near the bottom says, "Repels mosquitoes that may carry West Nile Virus." I suddenly have a suspicion that Skintastic's advertising agency is behind some of those scare stories you occasionally see on TV.)

Journal entry number two:

Two hours have elapsed, and the situation has worsened. I can have no rest: my bed is nought but a pit of sweat and despair. My eyes, empty, affix upon it from across the darkness of the room.

My flesh grows weary and will soon give in; yet the heat is unrelenting, tireless, like some unnatural predator. It draws close to me, breathing down my face, pressing upon my chest, suffocating me. Surely this is the end.

I have no will to flee, nor could I anyway. My body, naked except for my underwear, has become affixed by perspiration to the faux leather chair I sit upon. I am trapped! I ponder my death.

How I long to be one with the cold earth.

Been going through the same here.  It doesn't get *that* hot, but our apartment traps heat in like nothing you can imagine.  It's rather unbearable.

Wind, I don't know if you've heard of it up there in Canada, but it's called air conditioning. I cranked it up to max, it's like 52 degrees in here. I'm sitting here sipping hot chocolate.

Our apartment has no air conditioning.  The best we can do are fans and swamp coolers, and those are a pain in the ass.

No A/C?  Holy shit that sucks, in both places I've lived (Arizona and Texas) you pretty much HAVE to have some form of A/C during the summer.  This summer has been relatively cool compared to last summer, so we haven't been using the A/C too much, but during the day the thermostat is set on around 75-76 F.  I really wish we had a ceiling fan in the living room though since that's where we do all of our board gaming when friends come over, it gets a bit stuffy sometimes with all of the people in the same room.

Actually, Edgar Allan Poe comes to mind.  I'm thinking of "The Tell-Tale Heart".  What would go well with that?  Some creepy music, starting out slow, then building up as his despair grows.

I thought it would be too common to have the creepy music.. it's hard to kill yourself so, i thought mission impossible was suitable but then it ruins the mood - makes it too comedic.

well we could always have some gregorian chants?

I disagree.  This series of diary entries needs to steadily progress into increasing paranoia.
