When does the Wii come out? Definately looking forward to that one.
-
I've been wondering the same exact thing... and I'm getting impatient!
-
I saw some big video preview of it on IGN, and all I can say is that I'm very excited.
-
Nintendo is supposed to be holding a large press conference this Thursday. They are getting down to the wire, so it is expected they will tell us the price and release date.
Current rumors are saying the price is $150. We'll see. I'm still saying $199.
-
Yeah, I'm expecting $199 - $219.
-
Either way that's a hell of a lot better than the 360's $499, or the PS3's announced $599!
The Revolution (yes I'm still calling it that) is what I'm rooting for!
-
I'd imagine not too long now. They probably want time for it to settle before the holiday season, when they will release thier AAA titles. My guess is 3 1/2 weeks.
-
Rumor is currently November 2006 I believe.
-
There was also news last week (I think) that Nintendo got the processor finalized and all set for mass production. Supposedly that was the last piece of the puzzle and they could have started putting together units today.
But yeah, it's cutting close. It could be worse though (http://www.gamespot.com/news/6157152.html).

My guess continues to be October/November, at a price of $200. Just my gut talking. I'm also excited, although I won't be able to buy one of the units for a while since I got the 360. But that's okay. I don't mind waiting because I know how much good shit we're going to get for it.

The good news last week was that IBM announced that they had been shiping batches of 'Broadway' to Nintendo since July. That basically translates to nintendo already haveing a very large ammount of the chip. Speculation is that they have been quitely producting full consoles since around the same period and the big cross-continent announcement this thursday will announce a release date (one that may be very very soon).
Either way, I like the way Nintendo goes about console launches compaired to Sony.
-
I have my money ready for Wii as long as it's less than $250 CAD. I've never been able to say that for a console at release before.
-
I'm highly excited for the wii... it's just such a bloody cool concept... plus the uber-backwards-compatibility
They are really playing their hand nicely with the price too... It caters to a market of people who don't have 600+ games + controllers to flush.
-
I'm looking foward to it. I'm betting that it's going to be $250. I hope it's cheaper, but thats what I'm going with. Which is still decent. Gonna have to buy like 3-4 games at launch too.
-
I was extremely sure that I wouldn't be interested in any of the nextgen consoles, but every day the Wii grabs my attention more and more.
I just may need to buy one
-
I had written off Nintendo about 1/2 through the Gamecube's life, but man if they didn't pique my interest like never before with the concepts they've come up with for the Wii.
I personally think it'll be a big hit. Not like PS2 hit, but way bigger than the Cube.
-
All you need to look at is the popularity of Guitar Hero and Dance Dance Revolution to see where the Wii is going. The only thing that really distinguishes GH and DDR is not the gameplay itself, but how you control them. Now imagine an entire system based on that concept. Huge.

The thing is that it doesn't deserve more than $150. The hardware is pretty behind. But unfortunately with the PS3 at $600 and the 360 at $400, even at $249 people will buy the Wii.
I'll probably get it at launch if it is $150.
The only thing I am worried about is the hardware. Anyone know the exact specs?

That's another thing. My recently purchased GC+controller+15 ordered games won't go to waste. :P
-
I don't know the exact specs, but from what I understand, it's a slightly more powerful Gamecube essentially.
-
I dont even look at specs anymore, just the games that are made for them. From what I could tell, Metroid and even the new Mario game looked just as good as the competitions games, which is all that matters.
-
Normally I wouldn't either Pyro. It is just that I don't plan to purchase more than one console, and I want it to last. Something with the hardware of the gamecube, can't look good in another 4 years.
I am still going to buy it of course. Games look fantastic with that controller.

"Breaking News." (http://www.gamespot.com/news/6157572.html?tag=latestnews;title;1)
... damn. Well, it does come with a game. Not a killer app, mind you, but that's the first time that's happened in a good long time.
-
Well, it's a tad more expensive than I'd hoped, but who cares? I can't afford it at launch anyway. Which makes me sad.
-
Aww... $250... just out of my current impulse buy range.
-
Well I'm down. Im a little saddened that Mario Galaxy wont make it this year because videos Ive seen I was really impressed with. So... it'll be Metroid, Zelda, and Smash Bros. for me.
-
Here is how out of the loop I am: I have never heard of Mario Galaxy.
-
Oh, I did not see this...at all.
-
Jesus... Mario Galaxy looks absolutely fucking awesome. That was the first game to get me interested in the Wii, and if I were to buy a Wii, it'd definitely be the first game I got.
-
Can we blame this on Sony? Since they are launching the PS3 at $600, even at $300 the Wii would be half the price. Never mind the fact that it is only slightly better hardware than the GC.
Still it does launch with a game. Hmmm... I'll have to think about it now. Wouldn't have had to at $199.
