It's cool, conceptually, but aside from the lack of clarity and contrast, screen privacy would be an issue.

Have you sen Sony's tiny LED which can be rolled up (http://www.examiner.com/x-16352-Japan-Headlines-Examiner~y2010m5d27-Sony-shows-off-extremely-flexible-display-screen)?

Right, the tech is not that new.  As I understand it, its biggest problem now besides cost is a short life.  The blue pixels bear the brunt of that, if memory serves.  I have high hopes for the tech.  Right now, I feel the only worthy successor to CRT is plasma.  Everything else is rear projection or akin to rear projection (LCD).  Plasma is self-illuminating, like CRT and like OLED.  You can't get perfect contrast, color, viewing angles and uniformity of color and light without that.  We just make do with what works until then.
