Title: Dropbox peeps: want 4.5GB of more free space?
Post by: idolminds on Thursday, February 02, 2012, 11:54:48 AM
Check it out (http://lifehacker.com/5881692/get-up-to-45gb-of-extra-space-on-dropbox-for-uploading-photos-and-videos)

Experimental build of the Dropbox client to add a new function: auto uploading of photos and videos when a camera or external device is detected. For every 500MB you upload this way, you will get an extra 500MB of space added to your account up to a max of 4.5GB. So...thats a lot of uploading to get the space, but there it is.

During this beta period, we are also offering additional free space to test automatic uploading of photos and videos. For every 500MB of photos and videos automatically uploaded, you'll receive another 500MB space bonus, up to 4.5GB total.

That almost sounds like the extra space is only available during the beta period.

That's a lot of work to get the extra space.

As much as I would like more space, I have no intention of putting in any effort to get it.

Wonder if this will build up on the free space I already got.  Dropbox was (is?) running a promotion where you got free space depending on how many people you referred and signed up.  Google was also running a promotion on AdWords where you got like $100 free for signing up for an AdWords account.  So I signed up for AdWords and then ran an ad for awhile that pointed to my Dropbox referral link.  Got like 5 GB free this way.  Well, it was $100 in credit, but nothing out of my pocket.
