Fell in love with Oblivion again

My issue is that the buildings and trees in the distance look really weak. I tried a lot of tweaks but they don't help. Any suggestions?

Also I've seen a few mods that cap the skill level on certain creatures so they don't scale with you beyond a certain level. This has been exactly what I wanted because I am tired of beggars good enough to save the world on their own.

Yea, that's one of the problems with the game with how the mobs level as you level.  It's reasonable, but flawed because, for example, my character is not honed for combat, but he's level 17 or 18 now.

Oblivion is fantastic. I think the part that makes me happiest is how customizable and user accessible they made it. If I don't like the way something works I can alter it to a certain extent, or someone else in the community has already modified it ;D

Oh and with my new card I finally saw what the game looks like with HDR! It is pretty!

It's escapist, but sometimes I get caught in the politics going on in that world hehe :P Fortunately I have an invisibility spell! That would be sooooo useful in real life.

Pug, you should be using distance texture upgrades.  Your textures are all soupy.  I'm sure the big Oblivion mod threads are still around, I listed a ton of shit that really improves little things.  There are some texture mods (though I don't use anything but the ones for distance textures), there are UI retextures (Dark UI is *awesome*), and a bunch of other crap.  I'm sure MyD can find the thread.

Heh, I found it myself.

Ta-da!

It seems fairly up to date, though probably not completely.  Let me check and see if there's anything else to add to that list.  I'll update the old thread with it if so (i.e. I won't post it in this thread).

Oh man... you haven't played Oblivion till you are running FSAA with HDR. It wouldn't allow me from the Oblivion menu, but I forced it. At 4x it just takes a huge performance hit, but at 2x I am getting between 48-60 fps with peaks hitting near 110. It is pretty acceptable considering how everything is smoother from blades of grass to the massive trees.

Pretty sweet.

I really should hop back into Oblivion, since I do have Knights of The Nine Expansion (which comes w/ all the so-far released DLC stuff, too) and all.
