Duke Nukem Forever screenshot! ZOMG!

I guess I'll reconfirm what I said last night. That's an in game, real-time shot of Duke standing in a random hallway. It was really done as a small teaser for a job ad on Gamasutra.com. Nothing more.

I'm glad some of you enjoyed it, and we'll show more later as we start to wake from our slumber and decide how best to show the game off.

What a fucking joke. I don't care how good this game ends up becoming, I wont buy it.
Suck it, Pugnate.

Yeah, I saw this earlier on Shacknews. I didn't think this was too newsworthy, myself -- so, I didn't post it myself.

Forget the tiny-low res' pics -- where's the in-game footage done in nice quality at a high res', 3D Realms?

And, when will they pin down a damn release date....?

Just drop the game on the streets w/ no interviews or anything.....do it old school.....

I want to walk into Best Buy (or any other retail PC game store) and see DNF there on the shelf -- w/out any of the following: warnings, press coverage, commercials, game ads on TV/Net, marketing, or anything.

I'm sure that'll be enough to get people talking, having heartattacks, faint, do a double-check, blink, laugh, purchase the game, sigh out of relief, and/or do God knows what else.

I don't think it'll go that far, though it'd be pretty cool. I think one day out of the blue it'll be "Duke Nukem gone gold, shipping in 2 weeks."

If it really looks like that, no wonder it isn't done yet.  How many game engines have they gone through now?  Haven't they learned from Daikatana?

I remember when Max Payne had like all of this coverage for previews....then dropped off the face of the world for quite a while....

...Then next thing we knew, Payne was in stores w/out much of a warning.

Payne rocked, though....

Look here, Wiki

--It was originally on the Quake 2 engine
--Then, they jumped to the Unreal Engine
--In 2002, it was reported they basically scrapped 95% of the entire game, actually and were on the Unreal Engine 2.0, which they were heavily modifying engine.
--Then, eventually rumors floating they moved to the Doom 3 engine; who knows if they did....nothing was ever confirmed or denied...
--3D Realms also  picked up Meqon for doing the Physics, dropping the Karma physics (which is in Unreal Engine) that they were using.

So, pretty much, gone through at least 3 or 4 Engines.....

IGN made their 2007 Predictions doe PC Gaming....and Duke Nukem made the list....

Duke Nukem Still in Rehab

We're actually not actively trying to pick on Duke Nukem anymore, we just want to know what happened to him. We've come up with a theory involving large amounts of heroine and unclean hookers but it's unfit to print. The short of it is that he's checked into rehab somewhere along with the game, which we have to believe has undergone another face-lift, heart transplant, or tummy-tuck. We'd actually be ecstatic to be proven wrong on this one, but we don't think we'll be hearing any substantial new info about the original videogame royalty anytime this year. George Brussard of 3D Realms insists it's happening, but we've heard that for years and one thumbnail screen isn't boosting our confidence.

If it comes out, I'll most certainly give it a whirl.  I don't have any angst over the issue.  It's stupid, sure, and it's been mishandled from the get-go, but that doesn't mean I feel any need to boycott the game.  Whatever.  If it comes out and it's good, who really cares?

But yes, the whole thing continues to seem ridiculous.  It's really anybody's guess as to whether or not this thing will ever see the light of day.

Point taken.

Though, 10 years is a *long* time.....I hope the game of a new length, and is above single digits in the regard of how many hours the game will be.

I hope it'll turn out good....

I loved Duke3D. So, DNF is WAY LONG overdue....

Hmmm.....I remember the source code was released for DN3D, a while ago.....anyone make it run on Win XP yet?

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I'm still interested in the game, but not from any sort of design or technical aspect.  I absolutely loved Duke Nukem 3D and actually was one of the few that enjoyed Duke Nukem: Zero Hour.  I liked Manhattan Project as well.  So I'll check it out just because it's Duke.

But come on now.  Hasn't this game been in development for like 10 years now?  It's about time to stop trying to make it crazy awesome and just release it already.

DN3D rocked. It was a blast.

Quake and DN3D has different feels; Quake was just flat-out serious awesome action, while Duke was just a funny, fun bad-ass shooter.

Yeah, no shit.......

I really hope it isn't another Daikatana. And I hope it ain't somewhere in-between.

They been working on this thing for 10 YEARS or so, so for their sake, it better be a revolutionary FPS masterpiece...

That means since it been in the making that long, the game better be 70 hours long, at least...j/k. :P

"DNF Goes Gold, DNF coming out to stores in 2 weeks" would be newsworthy! :P

Though, I bet DNF is taking so long b/c it'll also be on STEAM :P
