Like Westerns? Like classic multi-player action? Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Wild West is for you.
I impulse pre-ordered this off STEAM because I was half cut at the time and am not regretting it at all. The pre-order was $13 or something like that, which includes access to the beta (this is a real beta, not a marketing beta, so there are problems). S0 far, for the price it has been 100% worth it.
The action is fun and satisfying. There are four classes as of right now;
-Trapper (think sniper)
-Gunslinger (uses a six shooter. Great for close combat)
-Deputy (uses a western-style rifle. Medium distances)
-Blaster (Uses a shotgun. Not sure where this fits in, but it destroys shit).
Each class has a special ability. The Trapper can lay bear traps. The Gunslinger can fan the revolver, exchanging accuracy for rapid fire. The Deputy can "mark" enemies, making their location visible to allies, and themselves visible behind walls and such. The Blaster can toss dynamite...fucking shit up.
Beyond that, each class has a buff ability. For instance, the Gunslinger radiates an accuracy buff, and teammates gain increased accuracy from just being around Gunslinger Allies. Each class increases a trait for nearby allies, so there is a heavy emphasis on sticking together. Furthermore, it seems that if you're injured, sticking with the group actually heals you, so there's another benefit there. Also, Borderlands style team reviving when killed (you even get a last chance to kill someone while lying on the ground injured).
The game modes are pretty simple. A capture point-like Conquest mode, a mode where the objective is to either defend or rob a safe of it's contents, a mode where both teams are competing for the same stash of gold, standard team death match, and a pretty weak co-op mode. There may be more, but those are the ones I've played.
Overall, it's a fairly simple, but very fun western-style MP third person shooter. If you're into this kind of shit, I urge you to check it out, just don't expect CoD5 levels of depth or production values...it is a game for under $15 after all. Also, as it currently is in beta, there are occasional connection problems and crashes, but they are working on them and updates seem to come frequently.
It's currently only available on STEAM, but will be hitting Xbox Live soon.
