Topic: Games games games! Yes, 3 of them!

Whole worlds against me. Or for me...hard to tell sometimes. For the longest time I couldnt find any cool games on clearance. Bunch of sudoku or whatever. Now that I'm spending a bunch of money for my trip and I dont want to spend anymore...boom, headshot.

So I got 3 games today.

First is Cooking Mama for the DS ($15 @ CC). Wanted something new to screw with on the train. Surprisingly fun game. Has a hint of Warioware but not quite so hectic. Its a series of minigames you need to complete to cook a particular dish, from chopping onions, frying, stirring, peeling...lots of things. Theres no real sense of failure. If you mess up "Mama" will do that part of the dish and you move on to the next part, you just get a lower score when the dish is done. Anyway, its cool. They are releasing a Wii version soon that I imagine will kick ass using the remote.

Thats all I planned to buy. Then...

First WalMart had Starcraft battlechest for $10. I thought about it but ultimately decided against it. I just dont see me getting into it. Then Target had the FEAR expansion for $15. Lucky (or unlucky) for me I dont have FEAR yet so it was easier to pass it by.

Also at Target...the 2 I bought: Dark Messiah for $13, and Dreamfall for $15. How can you pass that up? Beats me, because I didnt. So...hooray! I think...

Good stuff all around.  Most people seem to have enjoyed Dark Messiah quite a bit though it didn't do well critically, and the same goes for Cooking Mama (which Julia got for her birthday).  Dreamfall is supposed to be pretty great too, though I haven't played it.  Julia's a super huge fan of the series, though, so I got it for her right when it came out and she powered through it.  She loved it and can't wait for the next one.

Good stuff all around.  Most people seem to have enjoyed Dark Messiah quite a bit though it didn't do well critically, and the same goes for Cooking Mama (which Julia got for her birthday).  Dreamfall is supposed to be pretty great too, though I haven't played it.  Julia's a super huge fan of the series, though, so I got it for her right when it came out and she powered through it.  She loved it and can't wait for the next one.

Dark Messiah's biggest problem upon release w/ critics was it was buggy.

Well, good thing I waited b/c when I got Dark Messiah, it ran pretty well. It seems to be a common thing w/ Arkane -- just look at Arx Fatalis.

I couldn't pass up SC: Battlechest for $8 when I bought it.
And I still ain't started the damn game.

FEAR Expansion for $15 sounds nice to me.

I played a bit of Dreamfall. Quite nice. Unfortunately my video card is wonky, giving strange artifacts in certain games. Certain games in certain situations. Sometimes its fine, others its terrible. Dreamfall has quite a lot of "terrible"...so its making it difficult for me to want to play it right now. When I get a new card, though, this will be one of the first games I install.

Going to try DM tomorrow. Hopefully it fares better. I can download the patch tonight as well.

Apparently out of the box Dark Messiah was unplayable.
