So I remembered this when I saw it in the store a few days ago... weird as hell that I remembered, but I did. Picked up the Blue-ray on a whim and Julia and I just finished watching.
Holy cow. This is one you can definitely watch purely for the animation and still enjoy, but it's got some substance, too. It very much falls into that weird, surreal place that many anime movies do, which you'll either like or dislike, but I found this to be one of the few movies like that which I could really enjoy despite that.
Definitely weird, but if you can watch this on Blu-ray with a decently big TV, it's just fucking incredible. Not just well animated, but amazingly artistically realized.
