Wii Internet Channel updated to final

    *  Auto-hide toolbar
    * Display cursors from multiple Wii remotes (though only Player 1 can actually click)
    * Favorites page immediately accessible
    * Improved website compatibility
    * Improved zoom leaves text crisp at all levels
    * New and better scroll interface
    * Search button on the toolbar (built in google and yahoo searching)
    * Start up time decreased by 5 seconds
    * URL text (www and com) easily accessible (buttons! hooray!)

So if you're a lucky bastard and have a Wii, go get it. Its free till June. After that it'll be $5.

Nintendo is so ass backwards when it comes to online integration.  Friend codes?  That's the stupidest idea ever.  One complaint I read (I don't know if it's true) is that developers are having a hard time getting Nintendo to co-operate when they want to implement online play in third party games.  Regardless of how you feel about online gaming, I think we all have to agree that web browsing on a console is a fucking stupid thing to spend R&D money on.  It sucked on the DC when pages were made for 800x600, I don't see how it can be better now...especially when it costs money.

I generally think the same way, but in the defense of having a web browser on a console I have to say that spending some time watching stuff like the abridged Yu Gi Oh series on a TV with friends is freaking awesome.

Pokémon® Battle Revolution, the first Wii game to utilize the technology, launches on June 25, with multiplayer features similar to those leveraging GameSpy technology in several Nintendo DS titles.

The service provided an innovative network for portable video games, allowing people around the world to link easily and wirelessly to play games. If it works it works.  I've had no problems taking my DS online through Gamespy. 

I get the feeling that you're complaining just for the sake of complaining.

Heh, yeah, I was totally joking about the second part.  Gamespy is actually pretty good when fully integrated into games. 

As for the first part, I had no idea about that agreement.  I read an article on digg very recently about nintendo not being co-operative regarding online play, but aparently it was either old, I misread it, or it was just wrong.  It's good to see them actually making a step in the right direction with this. 


It still doesn't change my stance on the browser though....or the VC until they get some original content.
