Amtrak called, and of course I was outside so my bro took a message. See, a few weeks ago I wrote them about my trip...the 12 hour delay one (and the broken door return trip). It was through a form on their web site and I didn't expect a whole lot to come of it.
So anyway they call, I get the message, call back. Sit on hold for a few minutes (oh, the irony) and talk to a customer relations rep. Was pretty funny. She punches in the "case number" I give her and she says "Just a moment." Apparently she was reading my letter and soon enough she says "It seems you were delayed...oh my, 12 hours?" I chuckle and say yeah, and then she talks about the busted door.
Long story short they're mailing me a voucher good for $200 to travel on any Amtrak line, good for one year from today. Thats a full fare and then some back out to CA, and I'd end up with only about $100 out of pocket to come back home. Woohoo!
