Kid Nation

So yea, this reality show started the other day and the first episode was on as I was eating at work. It's practically like most reality show shit but what I found most amusing is that the drama and most of the conflicts that went on pretty much were equivalent to that of most of a lot of popular reality shows these days, aka big brother or survivor, but instead of being adults, these were kids. In fact, the problems they ran into which were a little bit of bullying and some big headed kids, were pretty much solved with a little bit of diplomacy. I don't know, some of us may hate kids, but their young mentality I think makes them more open minded than most older people I know.

I watched this show because I heard a bunch of kids drink bleach and I wanted to see that. One thing I noticed about the show was that all the kids had good intentions even if they didn't go about it the right way.

I saw the commercials for it, it didn't look terrible. They showed a clip of it on the Daily Show last night and it was just a compilation of all the kids crying. It was pretty funny.

Nick, where did you hear about kids drinking bleach? For some reason I doubt that.

How dumb does your kid have to be to drink bleach? The ages range from 8 to 15 of the kids on the show...and some of them (apparently it wasn't just one) drank bleach. If they had let toddlers on, ok...maybe. But by 8 you should know better.

And where did they get bleach to drink? Who poured it into a container that looked like it was for drinking, because they dont sell that shit in "Sparkling Spring" bottles.

No...wait...I take it back. They must have realized that their parents signed them away to a network television corporation who would drop them into a horrible place to fend for themselves, just for the chance at a little money. Hell, I'd be drinking bleach, too. With pills.

If I saw a bunch of teens and pre-teens about to drink bleach, I'd probably just let them do it.  You have to let these things just happen.

My mom was telling me about some kids in her unit at the hospital a couple of years ago. Apparently this kid had a bunch of friends over when his parents were gone, and 8 of them drank bleach thinking it was alcohol. His parents kept it in wine bottles for whatever reason and they thought it was alcohol. After the first one started choking and shit the other kids just thought he was not able to hold his alcohol or whatever. Most of the 8 kids died. Dumb kids....

Anyways, well met Nickclone. Maybe I'll do some research before posting next time. :)

Is it wrong that I laughed at that story? Just the thought of a bunch of kids thinking its cool to drink alcohol but its really bleach.

"Man, this tastes horrible. How can adults enjoy this stuff? Oh well, if I keep drinking it my friends will think I'm cool."

I didn't find it funny as much as sad, considering a large percentage of kids act the same way. It took them 8 people dying to realize that it probably wasn't good. That's sad.

No big deal, the research thing, not the bunch of dead kids...
