So, last week I once again hosted the annual beauty pageant. This was my 4th time doing it and I got some really nice feedback from it (which has been very rare in the past).
A week or so goes back and what do I hear? Apparently some assholes on some forum have been writing crap under my name. Just your usual provocative things to stir shit up even more (there's always rumors of the competition being bought, etc.).
Not uncommon and I've long stopped reading all the crap some people write about me or the pageant. But something else is different this year, there are no actual bad comments about me, in fact, everything they mentioned or attached my name to isn't really much of anything, most of the time it doesn't even make sense...
So why do I mention this? I still find it annoying as hell, because so much of what people write (especially using my name) is so wrong, but I don't want to actually get involved because that'd be going down to their level and a complete waste of time. I just can't really do much about it.
What's worse is that I can't learn from it either. It's not constructive criticism, it's just hate. At least in the past, I could actually agree with some of the things people bitched about me, and maybe make sure and try to improve for next year. Now, there's nothing...
A few years back, one of the directors told me this: if they are not talking about you in some form (good or bad), then it's time to change careers. I guess they are still talking about me, so I must be doing something right, at least on stage...
