Oh man, I got my new system up and running with a new XFX GeForce 8800 GTS 320mb and I was so pleased when I ran 3DMark06! It was like watching a CG movie!

I'm really happy with the performance! I finally got to see what R6 Vegas looks like with full graphics! I set Oblivion to Ultra High quality and my God is it running like butter!

In conclusion, I'm really glad I dished out the extra cash and went for the 8800 GTS.

Thanks Pug! ;D

Damn you.  I still haven't made the leap because my finances are like... bad.  But I want!

Unfortunately, it's starting to look like a widescreen monitor or TV may be the next evolution in our household.  Julia's pushing me pretty hard for a widescreen display and an HDD for the 360.

I know, darn huh?  My marriage can sure be tough sometimes...

Hehe you will really appreciate it though :D

The widescreen monitor was my first upgrade. I had to wait for at least another paycheck before I could build my new system. I'd say go for the widescreen first since it's a more noticeable change, especially for movies.

You can get a pretty decent 40 inch lcd for around $1500 or so.  Or a DLP of the same size a little cheaper than that.  Prices are dropping pretty quickly.

There's no way in hell we're getting anything that large.  We wouldn't have anywhere to put it even if we did.  Something like this is probably as fancy as it will get, if even that.  We shall see.  I have no budget for this stuff.  If I can buy a used car for the same price, it's out of my fucking price range.

Hey, that's very close to what I have.  Same size & resolution.  I see they've added a digital TV tuner finally.  I think it's a requirement for all TVs to have one now, so it makes sense.  It will serve very well as a monitor for the 360.  I use a component input for it, but you can also do VGA at 1360x768.  The PC display is good, but the pixel density is not as high as with your typical 22-24" dedicated 16:10 PC monitor.  You will see pixels if you sit too close.  You can do TV PIP on the PC display on mine, so I assume the same is true here.  That's a feature I use all the time, like right now.  I think it's a good choice overall.  I'm still pretty happy with mine.
