Happy Thanksgiving all!
My new girlfriend (see other thread) invited me to spend the weekend with her in her hometown (we attend college together). I was really, really anxious before heading out, as it seems like a huge step to not only meet her family, but live with them for like half of a week.
So far, though, everything has been going well. I haven't really set out to "prove" myself to be worthy to them, I think, which has helped. They have all really enjoyed having me around. Her dad loves me because I am studying International Affairs and talked with him when he gets stupidly drunk. Her mom loves me because I am polite, courteous, and sweet. I played Monopoly with her sisters and they seem to like me too. I was talking with her brother, and he doesn't seem to be quite the asshole that I thought he was (standard overprotective army guy). Met the grandparents and they called back to tell her mom how much they enjoyed me.
Victory! She's sympathized with me because I listened to her father's rantings and ravings for a few hours when he got really drunk. And she's been saying all weekend how amazing I am and how much this means to her, etc.
