Happy 4th!
« on: Friday, July 04, 2008, 08:10:54 PM »
To all you Americans and stuff.

I hate the 4th of July.  It's just an excuse for low-class people to get drunk, light shit on fire, and listen to music far louder than necessary so as to shake your apartment until 4 in the morning.  I'm all for democracy and independence and stuff, but can't we celebrate it quietly?

You're the grinch of summer.   :P

Happy birthday, America!  I drove to Dayton airport to pick up my daughters, then went with them to a get together with the family at my brother's.  Ate, drank, and played music, though not so loud we couldn't talk.  Then we watched all the neighbors light shit on fire.  It sounded like a war zone out there.  Pretty colors!  My little one got scared, so I ended up going back inside with her a bit earlier than the rest of the gang.  They're in bed now, and I'm tired, but I know I wont be able to sleep for hours.

Hope everyone who cares got to celebrate today.

Happy 4th all.

I hung out with the family and had a good time. I marinated some baby back ribs overnight and ended up cooking them today. Took about 3 1/2 hours to cook them and they turned out great. I also bought a couple of fountains and some sparklers just to feel festive.

Also, Que, if I didn't know you better I would have said that you were an old man based upon your post. "Damn kids and their loud noises!!!" *shakes fist*. ;)

Sometimes blowing shit up is fun.

I am an old man.

And don't get me wrong, I'm all for the blowing shit up part.  I rather enjoy it.  That part doesn't piss me off, it was just sort of an incidental part of the overall message.  I mostly just hate my stupid neighbors who keep me up until all hours of the night.  I guess they got it out of their system last night, though, since all seems quiet so far.  Of course, they didn't start until 10:30 last night, and proceeded to noise it up until about 4:30 in the morning, during which time I couldn't sleep, so maybe they just haven't started yet.

But yes, "Grinch of Summer" would absolutely be a fitting title for me.  I'm a winter man.  That's when I like to go out.  Everyone else is inside, they don't like to leave because it's too cold and it gets dark too early, and since I like cold and dark that makes it happy times for Que, especially due to the lack of people.  I don't really dislike summer... it has it's great points.  My problem is just that everyone *else* likes summer, which means they're making noise and constantly out making it impossible for me to concentrate.

You'd have to understand where I live for this to make sense.  I wasn't nearly this bitter until I moved into this shit heap of an apartment.  Julia and I are seriously considering moving in August.

I had a bunch of fun blowing shit up all day. Went and saw a nice Firework show in Upper Arlington. Awesome stuff. And now I'm spent.

Huh. Aimee said I looked like an old man today... almost pushed her out the car door for that.

We didn't do much today. Bought a new vacuum and picked up a couple cans of dullcote for my minis. We made mashed potatoes, thin sliced steaks marinated with a Korean BBQ sauce, a couple hot links, a corn for dinner and then wasted the night away. I tested out a new process for snow on the minis, reorganized my paints, and to finish off the night Aimee and I lit a single snake behind the apartment building. It was glorious.

Heh.  We went to my sister's and gorged ourselves on copious amounts of grilled meat.  It too was glorious.

Hope you had fun celebrating your independence.  Ironic that while you were doing so, we once again snatched it from you.  Soon you'll all be wearing funny wigs like you were meant to.

I drove for four hours to get to the beach, so I could fulfill my patriotic duty to ward off communist incursion by shooting brightly colored rockets towards Russia and China. I'm not clear on the Constitution, but I understand this entitles me to vote in the coming election and guarantees that my soul will reach heaven if I die in the next year.

I also sacrificed a pig atop an altar of fire. I'm not sure what that does.

I worked from 12pm - 9pm, then had to go to Jennie's mom's and I scrounged around her house for an hour looking for Jennie's cell phone and then I got home around 11pm and went to bed.

Yay 4th.

I worked from 12am to around 9:30 the morning of the 4th, and had to go in again last night.  I came home and went to sleep, woke up around 6:30pm and hung out at my house.  At dusk I went outside and watched the lone fireworks display in town before going back in to work.... so, yeah.  I didn't get to celebrate much.

I didn't do much of anything yesterday.
Sounds like most days for me, doesn't it?  :o
