Children of Men

Well one night I went through a ton of movie trailers. Probably the one that standed out the most was this one: Children of Men. Its got an interesting premise and an interesting story. I am really damn curious about it.

Plus Im really starting to like Clive Owens talent.

I've been thinking of going to see the movie for a few weeks now. The movie seemed cool enough and all that, but what really got was an interview I heard with the director. The focus was a seven minute long uncut scene action scene that runs through a few city blocks in the middle of war.  After that I checked up on some reviews and it's done extremely well.... maybe I'll go see it this weekend.

I was reading some stuff about how the movie not only looks a bit like Half-life 2, it actually took some cinematographic cues from it as well.  I don't remember where I read it, though.  Anyway, it looks really awesome.  I very much want to see it now that the ads are all over TV.

I saw the movie without reading any of that. and yeah, so much Half-Life 2 in it. The movie itself is awesome, but a lot of scense are basically Half-Life 2: The movie.

That's cool, because I think art was one of the few places where HL2 truly shined.  The experience was very invigorating in that sense, and I even picked up the art book in hardback (and it's awesome for anyone that dug the game or its art -- definitely one of the better ones I've seen for a video game, possibly even the best)

I hope it doesn't leave as many cliffhangers as HL2 itself and HL2: Ep One left.... :P

The story is in no way similar to Half-Life's, though.  There isn't even a sci-fi background, really.  There is one alarming and unheard-of situational premise, but that's it for otherworldliness.

Powerful movie.  Gritty, visceral, depressing.  I'm developing an immunity to the current fad for high head counts in serious movies; but still, I'd rather do with less death.

Just watched this.
Good stuff, I must say.

It doesn't really feel like a sci-fi movie, just that sci-is setting is just there.
Kind of like Code 46, in that regard...
