Spike TV to give away indie games
« on: Wednesday, December 10, 2008, 03:35:37 PM »
Weee!

SpikeTV is going to give away some free indie games that have been nominated for their game awards. The nominees are: World of Goo, PixelJunk Eden, AudioSurf, and Braid. You may notice they are all downloadable titles, and the article I linked doesn't specifically limit the free versions to PC only (except AudioSurf, obviously). I'm hoping I can get a free copy of World of Goo on PC, but we'll see.

Quote
Details on how to get the free games will be made available at the end of The Next Great Game Gods, a Spike TV special that will air on Friday at 12:30 am ET. The program will feature Gametrailers.TV host Geoff Keighley interviewing a number of the nominees for the award including Dylan Fitterer, the creator of Audiosurf, and 2D Boy's Ron Carmel and Kyle Gabler, the creators of World of Goo. The special will also feature an interview with Spore creator Will Wright.
I hope the details hit the net soon after it airs.

Only one I've played was Braid, and Braid was awesome, although shortlived.

Will Wright's genius is being completely and utterly squandered.  That's the only thing that comes to mind.  Not that I think these awards are even remotely relevant to anything other than some people with marketing dollars they want spent.

I really liked Will Wright's acceptance speech -- he had the best speech of the night, so far.

About Wright -- he just needs to get away from EA. Fast.

I was hesitant at first as well, but I haven't gotten anything from them yet.
