Remember when Pink was suddenly in for men?

These guys don't.

Prisoners in the pink

A US prison has been painted pink and inmates forced to wear pink jumpsuits and pink slippers to try to stop them reoffending.

Sheriff Clint Low says reoffending is down by 70% at Mason County Jail in Texas, since he introduced the colour change.

''They don't want to wear them," he told the San Angelo Standard Times.

"Working inmates get a choice to work outside or sit inside, and some choose to sit inside because they don't want people to see them. They would rather stay upstairs.''

The Mason County Jail, built in 1894, is among the oldest working jails in the state. It has a capacity of just five inmates - four males and a female.

Sheriff Low says it would make a better museum than a prison and urgently needs replacing.

But, in the meantime, he hopes his pink jumpsuits will discourage offenders from coming back.

''That's not the Holiday Inn they are staying in up there," he said.

My youngest brother said at his senior prom like every guy had on a pink dress shirt.

I heard of a different, much larger prison in textas that made all the inmates wear pink. Chain gangs and everything.

I'm pretty sure that one is in Arizona.

In a probably related story:

Painting the Town Pink
Quote
Authorities in eastern India are painting a crime-infested town pink in the hope that an image makeover will lift the sagging morale of residents who are fed up with the decline in law and order, officials said on Monday.

Who the Hell are the psychologists in charge of these PINK operations??! I don't know about anyone else, but pink infuriates me. With regard to colours and psychology, pink is the colour that incites rage and aggravated (and potentially violent) behaviour in me, it also irritates my eyes. Next is red, but I actually like red. So painting my town pink would only create more trouble. Psychologically "sky blue" is the most soothing and calming colour.

I think pink belongs in very specific locations, with appropriate limits.

There's one exceptional case in which I'd pick pink.. If I'm ever asked "Pink or Brown?" My answer will always be pink. I love chocolate, but anyone who asks that question is not talking about chocolate.
