Sorry Ghandi, we win the cat-fight
« on: Sunday, October 22, 2006, 05:20:17 PM »
Wow, what an exciting game.  I thought for sure the Panthers were going to roll one up on us today.  Our defense was playing great in the first quarter, but our offense was getting nothing done.  I thought our defense would be tired in the 4th and just let the Panthers walk all over them.

I don't know what happened in the second half, but man did I like it.  The Bengals had some fire under their butts.  That 4th and 1 play was huge.  I saw the pass and I was like, "WTF is going on?!  Why would you do that?"  And then when Chad came down with it, man I was jumping up and down like crazy and screeming.

Anyway, good game.  Panthers are definately the real deal.  The Bengals can be too, when they want to be.

I should probably add for those who have no idea what I'm talking about:

Two NFL teams playing today were the Cincinnati Bengals, of which I am a big fan, and the Carolina Panthers, of which Ghandi is a fan.  The Bengals came from behind to win 17-14.

Bastard.  ;D

It was a good game, and it was pretty much a different game depending on what half you look at. I was actually on the road for most of it, so I didn't get to see it, but it was still pretty intense on the radio. Good ol' Jake choked in the second half, dunno where his game went. This probably takes us out of the postseason as well, so it's a pretty tough loss.

Not necessarily.  The Steelers had five losses last year...

Regardless, the Panthers are a good team.  Delhomme isn't a great quarterback, but he's pretty darn good.  And Steve Smith is ridiculous.  Thankfully, we didn't really let him get many YAC.  That's where it seems the Pathers really burn teams.  There and with the defensive line, which was very impressive today.

Honestly, I can't believe how well our defense played.  They certainly weren't great, but when you consider that all three of our linebackers today were backups (one of them is 3rd string), they played really well.  I was very impressed with the run defense compared to past efforts.
