Mexico decriminalizes small-scale drug possession
« on: Saturday, August 22, 2009, 11:31:27 PM »
Story

Could have gone in serious topics, but we'll see where it goes. I think this is a good step. Throwing someone in jail for a couple joints isn't going to solve anything, and the cost in not only dollars but also peoples lives (being in jail on drug charges tends to not go over well when applying for jobs) just isn't worth it.

Of course, thats Mexico. You're still boned in the US.

At this point I'm pretty sure that anything and everything Mexico ever does is a bad idea.

I think all drug use should have zero to do with the criminal law system.  Drug sales are another matter entirely, as is causing harm while under the influence of anything, including texting addiction.  So, yes, good step.  I doubt we'll follow suit anytime soon.

That's a shame, I've heard that Mexican prisons are lovely.

a step in the right direction. hopefully this shows some positive results (like holland), and other governments will be forced to consider decriminalization.

Brazil's courts ruled the same earlier, and now Argentina seems to be following suit.

Apparently Hispanics like them some drugs.
