I need an MP3 for an alarm clock
« on: Thursday, September 24, 2009, 09:52:47 PM »
My alarm is in storage and I'm way too lazy to get it.  I'll probably just end up buying another one on the weekend but for the last year or so I had been using an old phone as an alarm clock.  This worked out great, but somewhere between this morning when it woke me up and when I left a few hours later it disappeared....like off the face of the earth.  I'm not the biggest morning person so I literally could have put it anywhere.  Best bet is a tip jar at the coffee shop.

So, now I have to use my current phone, but I'm a deep sleeper and I don't know if any of the tones are quite annoying enough to wake me up.  The standard ring probably would, but in the past this kind of thing has always confused me to the point of just shutting the thing off and going to bed.   So, I need some sort of mp3 or ringtone that would be good for an alarm.  Any suggestions?

By the way, for anyone using Windows Mobile, G-Alarm is pretty sweet.

That's one I use! I really love having to solve the puzzle to stop the alarm, it forces me to wake up (it's not really a "puzzle" but you know what I mean).

I generally use a techno/rave track for week days like "666 - Alarma" (appropriate, yes?) coz it's just so uncharacteristic for a morning that it gets me right up to switch it off.

On weekends, if I activate an alarm at all, it'll be a more chilled out tune from Café Del Mar or something. Something I can just groove out of bed to at my own pace.

How about Pink Floyd's Time (from DSotM)?  That'll wake you up in a hurry.

Awesome, Time is a really good call on a song I already have access to.  The others I'll check out and put on there for sure.  I find switching the alarms is actually what wakes me up.

What I did find right after posting that is a Metal Gear ringtone that works very well.  The codec sound a bunch of times and then "Snake?  Snake?  SNAAAAAAAAAKE!"  Really dorky but damn does it ever make you shoot out of bed.

I have an alarm clock that was manufactured in the Soviet Union during the 60's to torture Americans. It has clearly been through the horror of war, given the sound it emits when triggered in the morning. That being bad enough, I have spilled countless glasses of water / bottles of beer on it through the ages. Having been waterboarded, it has developed an even deeper hatred for the American way of life.

I wake up everyday screaming at it.

Truly, it's a marvel of human engineering. No finer device could exist for extolling torture upon the sleeping American. I salute it every morning.

I hate Time. I'd always start dozing off during On The Run only to have Time wake me up and ruin my relaxation like a little bitch.
