I saw it a couple days ago despite my indifference for it when I first saw trailer for it. It's directed by Guy Richie which I didnt know. Anyway to the point, yes, its a good movie. Its not really a psychological mystery movie, but more a Hollywoodified edgier experience with lots of fighting scenes. However, it is well shot and the dialogue is clever most of the time, and I think the reason I liked it so much was they depicted Sherlock Holmes better than I expected, Robert Downey Jr. does a good job. Check it out if you can.

Yeah, I was a fan of this movie.  It's not a must see in the theater or anything, but worth at least a rental at some point.  Good flick.  I like Guy Ritchie's direction and, as Pyro said, Robert Downey Jr. is pretty great in it.  Then again, is there a movie he isn't great in?

I was skeptical about it initially because my wife and I are actually both huge fans of the original material, but when I found out Guy Ritchie was doing it and sort of what it was trying to do, I thought it could actually be sort of fun.  It's something I'd like to see, though I don't yet know if I'll like it or not.  But it looks like it could be a lot of fun, and generally people seem to be positive about it.

I watched a couple of weeks ago. It was pretty good. I was a little "iffy" about Sherlock's character by Robert Downey Jr. at first but he soon grew on me. I like that Guy Ritchie kept the character highly analytical in his assessments though in his own unorthodox way.

I've been skeptical about this too, that's why i thought i'd post about it and see if it's worth seeing. I had tickets to it but didn't use them just cause I liked the books. But I guess Downey Jr. being in it should've been a hint.

Scottws, thanks.. i guess i'll just wait till dvd comes.

I saw this too and was skeptical about it, like Que, since I enjoy the original material as well, but since I like Robert Downey Jr and Guy Ritchie I decided to see it and it was pretty good.  Downey Jr did a good job with the character and the dialogue was great.
