HSBC is generally considered the largest bank in the world. Generally because people can't agree on how you measure something like that or if you should technically count a couple of banks in China who have massive assets. That said, they're hands down the industry leader in both market cap. and profitability, as well as one of the top ten largest companies in the world. HUGE.
As for the 24th, banks are open, but many services close earlier in the day.
