With the millennium issue, we would assume any year expressed as 2 digits in a database needs 1900 added to it.  There would be some exceptions, but in the vast majority of cases, that solves the problem.  Why is it we can't do something similar with IPv4 addresses swimming in an IPv6 sea?

While a huge majority of corporations aren't anywhere close to being ready to implement IPv6 internally, implementing it on the WAN interfaces isn't a huge deal and that's really all that is needed for now.
