Topic: We're buying a house.

This process has been happening for well over a month now.  We've actually been house shopping since March.  We happened across a short sale listing and looked at it.  We both loved it (which was amazing in itself) so we decided to go down the lengthy road of actually attempting to buy a short sale.  It took the bank over a month to decide on whether to accept our offer or not.  They finally countered back wanting, get this, 630 more dollars.  In the end it was only 400 dollars.

Long story short, I had a friend of mine inspect the property yesterday and was told that everything is tip top.  That was the thing I was waiting to hear before I got utterly excited about it.

So yeah, utterly excited.  CANNOT wait to get out of this overpriced apartment complex.  Funny thing is, the payment is going to be roughly the same.

When I was getting a house three years ago, I was terrified.  Now, I can't imagine living in an apartment or condo.

We hit a snag with funding today.  Bank dropped the ball and gave us some bad info initially.  We're going to have to come to the table with more money.  Annnd we may not get to close on the 15th like we planned.

Nothing we can't handle, but it was pretty shitty of the bank to just tard out like that.

The seller's realtor directed us to someone who swears she can get this deal done in 10 days, whereas the bank was going to take through at least the end of July.  We're going through a government program, so the rate and everything is set.  I can't help but feel like something's a tad fishy here.  Maybe it's just my overwhelming paranioa though.  She says that since she is a direct lender she can get things done much faster than the bank, who outsources their underwriting and such.

I don't know. I'm torn.  We've been working with this bank for 3 months.  It seems shitty to just up and abandon them, but at the same time I don't want this process to continue into August either.

So we decided to go with this new lender and things have most definitely worked out.  She did exactly what she said she was going to do and we are set to close at noon on Thursday.

That looks pretty good.  Good price on that too.  I wish homes were that price where I live.  At minimum, a single family home is around $300k to $400k nowadays, and anything half decent is nearly $600k+.
