Topic: IMDB is going down the shitter

The site has been revamped with new layouts on the info pages for movies and actors. Before it had just nice simple lists of movies or actors related to films, now its a bloated mess filling the screen with more pictures and less information. Now stuff is hidden behind buttons making navigation more unnecessary clicks away. They've also introduced a premium paid service which from what I can tell locks away information on movies that are in the making. Ah well, it was a damn good place for movie info, now we have to wait till another good, free wiki site comes back up.

There must be some consultants out there leading sites to the shitter then.  Metacritic recently pissed me off with their stupid revamp.

I should add that I only go to IMDB with a specific search in mind.  One thing I noticed is that they list popular results ahead of exact search matches, which is by itself worthy of a slap against someone's face.

Haha, I mentioned the Metacritic change to pyro in IRC after he told me about IMDB. Its terrible now.

I don't like it either, I used to go there everyday to read the latest news items, but now it's very inconvenient to do.

Oh man, the new Metacritic layout is crummy, I used to visit it all the time from my phone to check reviews while I'm shopping, now it's a hassle.

I'm ok with IMDB so far, since at least the movie info pages haven't changed drastically, they just have a lot of "expand" buttons now. Either way, I generally access IMDB data through other shells like mobile apps or XBMC anyway, so long as the data is intact I'm indifferent.

I always kind of thought imdb was a cesspool personally.  Great for basic info, but so is wikipedia...with probably less idiots.

Yea I'm not a big fan of the new IMDB revamp.  I prefer its simpler, cleaner layout.  It's not way too cluttered and there's too much visual noise.

Yes, joystiq bucks the trend of crappy redos (or is that reduxes?).  Being able to post without jumping through hoops makes it a good thing by itself.
