An update if anyone is interested.

So I got the money back as I said, and discovered another Panasonic outlet. Apparently there were two, and not only one in the city as I had been lead to believe.

So I went and asked for the G10, which they had, and decided to test it before buying.

Would you believe it... single horizontal black line.

W T F!?

At this point I am thinking Panasonic, like other companies, ships its trash to this part of the world where people are less likely to be able to create a fuss that hurts their reputation as much.

The messed up thing is that plasma has spoiled me, and I don't want a new LCD. I may risk buying a piece that is working in store for a 10 day replacement guarantee.

That totally sucks dude. This whole experience your having makes me not want to touch a panasonic. I haven't bought one yet but I almost have. I'm finding that deals in stores are better than they are online.

Nah, I think Panasonic is pretty good overseas. I am pretty sure they are sending their trash here though.

Samsung does it as well (though not nearly this bad). Look up "Samsung panel lottery" on Google sometime.

That really stinks.  I've had experience with several plasma TVs, and I've yet to encounter anything like what you're seeing.  I'm going to guess that they've been treated roughly in shipment.  Either that, or you're right.  I hope not.

Yeah, Panasonic is really good over here.  I've had any number of TVs from them for years and all of them have been really great.

So after looking at a gazillion LCDs and not being entirely happy (they just lack the picture softnesss), and then some Samsung plasmas, I went and got my fourth G10.

Please god. Please let this one be good.

Update:

So far so good. Nothing beats a good plasma.

Thanks man. I have a 30 month warranty, but still.

I watched 300 and then bits of The Dark Knight on Blu-ray last night, and I just picked up Casino Royale, and Sin City today. So awesome.

So I was cleaning my plasma screen and noticed a stuck red pixel on the top right corner. There is no way in hell I'd return it and go through the break in process again, but I am just wondering if there is a way to fix plasma stuck pixels.

I don't notice it at all from a distance.

I've read that showing a solid white screen for a bit of time can reset a plasma, but I don't know if that's true. With my TV (also a Panasonic Vera as Que said), I remember there was also an anti-image retention mode witch moves a white bar across the screen several times. It's somewhere buried in the menus, but I can't remember exactly where. It's worth a shot.
