well it was a bit crazy, but very fun. we ended up staying in an apartment right in the center of the red light district. we were directly above a brothel and you could see the pervy guys bartering with the prostitutes from our room, along with the pimps and dealers hanging around on every corner. a bit sketchy, but amusing.
after visiting several coffeeshops on the first night, we thought it might be fun to procure some mushrooms. we all ended up tripping our asses off in the apartment. the shrooms were good, and it looked like walls were bending, textures were moving and the ceiling was breathing. the constant noises of hookers getting banged and dealers arguing and fighting didn't lead to the most pleasant trip though and after a while we all completely freaked out, and i went quite insane for a few hours.
we made it to the sex museum on the second day, which was most amusing, if not a little disturbing. i guess you just don't expect to see exhibits on golden showers, fisting and bestiality when you go into a museum - even if it is in amsterdam.
on the final day we went to the rijksmuseum, where we saw a lot of rembrandt's, along with work by the other dutch masters. it was quite nice to be able to soak up some culture after the hedonistic excess of the rest of the city.
in the evening we hopped from coffeshops to bars drinking and smoking as much as we could and munching down the final box of shrooms. we ended up fucked out our skulls wondering round the red light district, laughing our asses off at the fat hookers and dirty perverts.
all in all, it was fucking sweet and i'm sure i'll be going back again.
i took a few photo's with my phone, nothing special, but i thought i'd post them anyway. and no, you can't take photos of the hookers - another tourist tried it and got toilet roll thrown at him!
one of the many barges on one of the many canals.
a tram outside the heineken brewery. we nearly got run down by these things (along with the cyclists) so many times.
smoking the first of many joints in the hill street blues coffeeshop.
a random castle in one of the quieter areas of the city.
