Windows 7 Freezing
« on: Sunday, October 03, 2010, 11:04:33 AM »
I've got an odd problem. Win7 seems to freeze when I leave my PC idle for a certain amount of time (usually just after the 1 hour point). I checked around the online self-help communities and the most common cause was Win7 having a problem with hard drives going to sleep. I made sure my hard drives weren't going to sleep at all, and the problem persists.

I did notice one other change in my system since this started happening. Usually after playing a game (any fullscreen game), as soon as I close it, I get a message telling me Windows detected extremely low performance and forces a change to the Windows Basic theme. This seems to happen most often with Steam running in the background.

Now I'm beginning to suspect my video drivers for all the problems.

Anyone have any ideas?

Almost certainly driver related...
