umm I don't really see the problem, it's like with Witcher, it actually seemed like some people just wanted the nudity and not the game. The game's the same right? So are we so hard up for it we need T&A in our games so bad? Please we're sitting on the internet surrounded in the stuff!
There's a few points to this.
1. A game company's artistic vision should not be compromised. In Germany, you're not getting the fatalities. In America, no nudity. If you live in either of these areas, you're not getting the originally intended version from the designers in one aspect of the game. Though, in other European versions, you will get all the originally intended content by the actual designers, as they intended the game to turn out.
It really seems silly to me that across the globe, there basically will be THREE different versions of the game, at least -- wouldn't you say so???
2. Graphic content are not all treated equalI don't care how you look at it, when it comes to content in a work of art, graphic is graphic to me -- whether it's the act of sex or act of violence. I've always felt they should be treated the same, myself -- and rated as such, as well.
The MPAA treats violence not nearly as bad as say nudity/sex. ESRB is basically the gaming form of the MPAA, following the MPAA's rating system model, anyways. As we know, one single boob will catch you a M rating in a game; i.e. Oblivion after the nude elf mod. Though, it's okay for a game like Silverfall to have plenty of non-stop violence, blood, and death here and there -- bang, T rating; you'd figure that would get the game the M rating, wouldn't you??
So, yeah -- we've seen some numerous amount of ridiculously violent games get the M rating in the US -- where there's decapitation, dismemberment, etc etc; all which are acts performed and shown in graphic detail. Only one has really gotten the AO for violence alone -- and that was Manhunt 2 (until they trimmed it down for a M rating).
The Witcher in the US, the nudity isn't there; though all of the graphic violence is intact. In a world that made some logical sense, where violence and sex were treated equally, even w/ the nudity gone from the game, you'd figure the violence would have to be toned down to be not as graphic or else it'd be rated AO, right??
