Rdio

I'm trying out the free trial of Rdio right now. It's basically the same thing as Spotify and Zune Pass but available in Canada. If you're unfamiliar with those, think Netflix for music.

I've always been against paying monthly to stream music because I take pride in my music collection and like owning high-quality to lossless audio since I have a really nice sound system.

However, I'm seriously thinking of subscribing because this thing is incredibly convenient. Being able to search for an artist and getting complete access to their discography and then pressing one button and having it instantly on my mobile phone is basically the best thing ever. There are some things missing in the selection but so far about 90% of the things I've searched for have been available.

It also has nifty follow and shared playlist features. So I can follow music blogs and just stream their playlists and listen to their best new album recommendations to find new music effortlessly.

It's $5 a month for computer access and $10 a month for mobile phone access. At that price, I'll probably actually be saving money since I presume I'll stop purchasing albums except for the ones that I really, really want to own and enjoy in full quality.
