As a matter of fact, they're all bird flus. It's only H5N1 you need to worry about; anyway, if you're infected with it (and it certainly, undoubtedly, without any possible question, sounds like you are), there's still a 41% chance of your survival.

I suggest freezing yourself, Walt Disney-style, until a cure is found or aliens conquer the Earth in 2242.

ummm... flu won't go away for two days so it is naturally the most dangerous type?

Sorry, it's a confusing post.  I'm not sick or anything.

I was going to get a flu vaccine, but the person administering it was asking what i was allergic to, and so i said some things and so the person goes "I don't think i want to give you the shot."  So I had to undergo a test to see if I'm allergic to the vaccine.  What they do is inject a tiny bit of the vaccine in the arm.. and so that's what they did.. and right away i got itchy and red.. I still have a lump on my arm that's red and stuff.. so yeah, i can't ever get vaccinated for flu.

Prolly contract some type of flu, bird flu or whatever.. oh well..
Taken.

Flu shots are just mind control juice anyway, you aren't missing anything.  But seriously, I refuse to take them.  Every year I watch everybody at my work do it and suffer for it, so I don't see the point.

Yay! I've never been vaccinated for the flu either! I'm not allergic or anything but it just doesn't make sense to be vaccinated for one single type of the plethora of influenzas out there, every frickin' year. I'm just glad my body's immunity is fairly resistant. Plus there's something really creepy about the flu shot and the people who give it to you.

So all of you aren't not being required to take the shot?  that's interesting.

I had to get a typhoid vaccine recently - required.

How can your work force you to get a flu shot?  My work provides them by having a nurse come out to the job site, but they know better than to ask me to do something I don't want to do.

It's better than being allergic to something you do need i.e. FOOD! hehe

There are way too many people allergic to peanuts and dairy products out here, it's creeping me out. In my head that raises a red flag. Something is wrong with food and nutrition out here. It needs to be looked into before it gets out of hand.

Though an allergy to the flu (or the vaccine) is peculiar :P I'm just glad I've never had to take a dang flu shot.

I know every time I get a flu shot they ask if I'm allergic to eggs or something like that.

Man, I can understand being allergic to exotic stuff like spices or even pineapples, but eggs?! Milk? Peanuts? Some people are even allergic to chocolate.

Allergies are getting ridiculous! I guess soon it'll be legitimate to say "Oh, I'm allergic to work."

The viruses for the vaccine are grown in hen's eggs. so if you're allergic to eggs there's a high chance of you being allergic to the vaccine.

Are you trying to imply that people are only faking anaphylaxis?

No, anaphylaxis is a natural response, I'm just saying it shouldn't be triggered by common things. The fact that it is means that there's something not quite right going on.

Anaphylactic shock from a bee sting is a serious allergic reaction, but it's credible like dying from a snake bite. Anaphylactic shock from a glass of milk is not supposed to happen. That's like dying from a cat scratch, it's not supposed to be the case. If things get bad enough that a cat scratch could kill you (unless your immunity is ridiculously low or deficient, or the cat is a lion), then you know something wrong.

I'm not saying allergic reactions are unbelievable, I'm just saying they shouldn't be rampant. The standard should not be "allergic," that's the exceptional case, they should be the rare occurrence.

I actually don't bother with the flu shot either.  I have yet to get it since I've been an adult and I don't really see the benefit to feeling like ass for a week afterward to prevent something I'm probably not going to get anyway.
