Like Dropbox, but Googlier!

Guess it just launched and is being rolled out to everyone. 5GB of free space, desktop syncing app (like Dropbox), etc.

Read the EULA for Google Drive.  One way to put it: "All your base are belong to us!"  Not that it is any surprise.

I don't see how this adds anything over Dropbox, so I'll be sticking with that.  That and Dropbox's EULA ensures you actually own your files.

Thanks as well, that made my research a hell of a lot easier.


I'll likewise be sticking with Dropbox it seems, although it'd be sweet if their Android App synched on document change and save like it does on the desktop.

Google Drive is a new initiative but as it stands it offers no real reason for anyone to shift from their current cloud drive alternative. Google will have to make some changes to their policies as well as the service itself to be competitive. Time will tell.

I didn't know the Android version of Dropbox didn't function quite like the desktop version. I'll have to test out the iOS version on my iPad to see if it's the same.

So far SkyDrive seems to be the most appropriate option for me, what with my Windows Phone. I'm actually surprised there's no Dropbox app for it yet, though many apps (e.g. Comic book readers) use Dropbox to connect and download your PDFs etc.

Probably a matter of time before Google changes the policies. I'll stick to using my server/ftp for now.

For all I know, it's been fixed, but up until a couple of months ago, at least, if you downloaded, changed a file, and then saved it wouldn't automatically sync.  You'd have to go and reupoad it completely...which kind of killed the point.
