Peanut butter is a beautiful thing. I love both varieties, but smooth is better to experiment with. See, being a fairly poor dude, I realized that I could put peanut butter on almost every food for a tastier, more filling meal. I tend to use smooth more for its glue like properties, where chunky often doesn't hold up as well. On a pb&j though? Gimme two slices of toasted white, tons of crunchy pb, and then some of that jelly stuff so it can get all the way to my stomach.
