Topic: iPod FM broadcaster?

Meg's birthday is on the 13th of this month, and I was thinking of getting her one of the iPod FM transmitters so she can listen to music thats on her iPod in her car. In my past experience things like this don't work to well.

I was just wondering if anyone here uses something like that? And does it work well?

I got Jennie a Griffen one that went on back of the old iPod Nano.  It was a complete piece of crap in every way.  It sometimes wouldn't turn on, it sometimes wouldn't turn off, it would completely drain the battery of the fully charged Nano in well under an hour, and it had bad build quality.  The switch/roller was especially flimsy.

My friend uses a Belkin one in his car that seems to work well with his 30 gig iPod.  It doesn't use a switch/roller like the Griffen one Scott mentioned either, it has a digital display with scan buttons like the radios in newer cars.

Hmm, I'll have to do some research. Yeah, most of the time, things like this don't work too well. But she doesn't really care about super great hi-fidelity sound or anything. She just wants to be able to play shit from her iPod in her car.

Well, the ones I've heard mostly good things about are the iRiver FM Transmitter and the Belkin Tunecast II.  Also, note whether or not there's a glut of radio stations and difficulty of finding unused station numbers.  Sometimes people have issues with that, too.

ipodlounge forums led me to buy one by scosche at walmart for $20 or so. From what I rememebr they have one that is very good, and one that sucks. ipodlounge forum will tell you which one to buy.
