And no, it wasn't the point of the movie to be bad. The movie sucked. I think it was obvious they had a serious go at making an exciting movie about snakes on a plane. Then came the internet hype and they tried to add "cool scenes" so that movie would live up to it. A lot of the scenes that were added later, including the Samuel Jackson line, felt totally out of place and seemed quite obviously added as an after thought.
The movie took itself too seriously and there wasn't enough gore to make this anything near the cult favorite the internet wanted it to be. It wasn't a movie that was self aware of its genre, and it wasn't parodying anything. So yes, it sucked, and not because it wanted to.
