Anyone have luck with craigslist?
« on: Thursday, May 03, 2007, 09:15:34 PM »
Ohhh...

Dude selling a nice computer locally for $350.

Pentium 3.0ghz Proccesor
1Gb dual channel pc3200 memory
fx5900xt 128Mb video card (plays alot of newer games)
60Gb Maxtor hard drive
DVD-rom drive (not a burner)
Windows XP Home Edition
Grey case with side panel window
17" CRT monitor
Does not come with a dial up modem But does have ethernet port to hook up DSL or cable internet
Also comes with a keyboard, mouse, and some speakers so all you have to do if plug things in and start playing some games or surf the internet.

May not be the greatest rig, but its certainly better than what I'm rockin'. Seriously considering seeing if its still available.

Doesn't seem bad at all.  Not perfect, but definitely better than what you got.

I sold some stuff off Craigslist a few years back when I was desperate for cash and didn't want to wait for Ebay. Both transactions went okay. Arranged for local pick-ups at a Jack in the Box near my hours.
Suck it, Pugnate.

I found my apartment through Craigslist... but the owners are actually a professional real estate company and were just using the place as another ad.

Maybe I'll check it out then. Once I figure out if I have $350 to spend.

I found my motorcycle on Craigslist.  The guy was really nice and the bike was just as advertised.  I love Craigslist.
Suck it, Pugnate.

I wouldn't even waste $350 on that.

Visit the main page of newegg. You can get a dual core AMD 3600 for $69!

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductCombos.aspx?Item=N82E16819103046&SubCategory=343&SortField=0&PageSize=10&page=1

They have a combo there. $188 for that processor plus mobo! You can find better deals easily.

But say you go for this RAM:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231098

That's 2GB of DDR2800 for $109 plus the $188 is $307!

Get that and then save money for a video card. You can get a X1950pro for $150, which is an awesome card and will get you 30+ fps outdoors in Oblivion at full settings according to Anandtech. So if you recycle your case, your windows xp, your hard drive, buy the processor/mobo combo with the RAM and video card, you are spending $100 more than craigslist, but getting something new, dual core, and guaranteed to play all DX9 games.

I was a little harsh on that $350 system I guess, but the FX series of video cards is shit. You are getting a used 17'' CRT and a harddrive which both aren't worth a lot of money on their own.

We found one of our roomates on craigslist.  We needed an extra, this kid seemed like a good enough guy, and he even went to our school.

That bastard failed out of school in one semester and then packed his shit up one day and left without telling us.  We lost a month's rent from him and he's still at large.
