Terragen
« on: Friday, May 18, 2007, 09:56:44 PM »
Some of you have probably seen this, but a YTMND brought me to a fun little program called Terragen tonight. Basically you can make up cool landscapes and then do all sorts of lighting tricks and then render a decent looking high resolution shot. Best of all, it's free and like less than 2mb, so it's worth just looking at.

Here's something I threw together with my first 15 minutes with the program (then took like ten minutes to do a full render).

There was a time when it seemed like every other idiot at deviantART would post something they did with Terragen, so I always kind of hated it for spawning that.  But it really isn't the program's fault.  I've never even tried it, though.

I know of terragen because every mapper used to use it to make skyboxes.

Terragen always reminds me of Bryce.  Terragen is pretty decent for skyboxes though, I fiddled with it a couple of times when I made an outdoor enviroment in 3D Studio Max.
