And finally, the Sony conference
« on: Wednesday, July 11, 2007, 01:01:29 PM »
Sony

They did well from the sounds of things. Less pie charts, more game footage. PS3 version of UT3 will support PC made mods and maps, which is pretty big. New PSP redesign (slightly thinner, lighter weight, better battery, TV output). MGS4 exclusive (though I believe they said that about MGS2 before, so we'll see).

Nothing really earth shattering, but a good showing anyway.

I'm kinda curious what the heck NCSoft will be creating for an MMO for an IP for the PS3.

Quote
12:19: "NCsoft will be joining the PlayStation camp." NCsoft will be creating exclusive PlayStation Network games. "Only the PlayStation Network can support the kind of gameplay NCsoft has become famous for."

Like anyone gives a shit about a new PSP.  People would 8 times as excited if they announced they were re-releasing old ones with the 1.50 firmware.

If they came out and said "We now allow homebrew on the PSP" sales would shoot up like a million percent.

Seriously, they totally should.  Be friendly to your customers.  The ones that really want it are going to get it anyway.

The Killzone trailer was pretty cool and it's good to see the game finally coming along. Even though it's obviously toned done from that first trailer, it still looks pretty damned good. From what I know of the first game, I have my doubts about the game keeping the level of intensity of the new trailer up for an entire game and from the looks of the actual combat, that's probably going to hurt it. There's also the  bit in the trailer where, thirty seconds after the big landing, you and a single guy are sent off to kill an entire army. If you're going to do stuff like that, what's the point of the big introduction with two big forces facing each other? I can't help but think they shot themselves in the foot with that huge trailer two years ago, much like Halo 2 did with it's long E3 trailer. Of course, Halo had a fan backing to save it; Killzone does not.

And the smaller PSP... yay? At least when Nintendo resigns their portables they do something more tangible like improve the screen along with battery-life and size.
