Whose going to have a game where you need to refer to a book to play it? It seem Level-5 (makers of Professor Layton) is teaming up with Studio Ghibli (makers of *you should already know who they are*) are doing just that.

A celebration of Level-5's tenth anniversary, Ninokuni will be a DS adventure title that comes with a "Magic Master" book. The book, also an in-game item carried by the main character, is full of magic crests, spell recipes and the like. The player will then refer to the physical book while playing the game, according to Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu as translated by NeoGAF.

Level 5 and Studio Ghibli?  Dude, that's a match made in heaven.  Even aside from the coolness of the unique idea, I am so behind whatever they come up with.  I'll be in line day one.

Holy crap, that sounds great.  I loved Professor Layton and enjoy most of what Studio Ghibli has produced, hopefully the game comes to the US.
