Keep bending over, folks. Keep bending over . . .
I have to agree with Cobra on this one.
I think the problem is indifference. Perhaps the problem is people don't seem to care about something unless they are directly affected by it. I still think the US of A is probably one of the best places in the world to live in. Freedom of speech to me is one of the most important fundamental rights of human beings. Why the hell don't Americans exercise this right more often?
Again... I am not anti American... I am not. It may seem like it every time I make a negative comment, but its just some observations I make. BTW, that human rights issue we err..discussed a bit ago is obviously far worse here. That's a story I'll tell another day.
Anyway during my days on IGN, I posted a thread that turned very spicy fast. I am sure some of you remember it. Five years ago I was basically asking why America despite being one of the richest nations had one of the poorest health care systems among its peers, and a pre college education system that in terms of quality ranked worse than many third world nations.
It got spicy quickly, but I posted numerous links that I am not going to bother looking for now. Basically America is below a lot of third world nations in terms of how educated its high school goers are. In fact it had about fifty nations ahead of it. This was according to numerous surveys and reports from many American government agencies as well as reports from the United Nations.
That was one thing. The other was regarding health care. I found that the health care in Canada was even better than the one available to Americans. Xessive can testify that the health care in the middle east is amazing as well. Same goes for much of Europe, where like much of the middle east, it is FREE and fast.
At the time I stated that this was due to private corporations getting their hands on health care. A lot of people seemed to agree with me, though many didn't.
Again, these are just a couple of observations on my part. Yes there is a lot of corruption in America on a higher level. Big businesses backed by major money, finance the campaign of politicians who in turn return the favor.
Yes America is still the leading nation, but it needs to work a few things out.
Despite having all this wealth, and despite being one of the few nations that allows complete freedom to its citizens, nations that are far less wealthy are still better at providing health care, and better at providing education.
Education and health care are the building blocks of any world power. Something is definitely not right, and American citizens need to start asking questions.
The other thing I notice is how public opinion is bought. News organizations seem to present views that seem to be backed by special interest groups. Guests that are on the payroll of these groups seem to get a lot more airtime.
The problem with the corruption in America is that unlike here, it is subtle and hard to prove, yet at the same time it is very obvious.
Again I am not anti American. I am not making these observations because of my bias or anything. Like I said, I see more corruption in other parts of the world.
