Happy St. Patrick's Day!
« on: Monday, March 17, 2008, 02:12:38 PM »

Anyone have plans?

Mine looks to be pretty boring at the moment - lots of work to do. I have to edit some audio files for a class as well as some other stuff. If anyone knows of a good program to edit audio files feel free to post. Anyways, perhaps a bar is in order after that. We shall see.

I plan on staring at that picture for many hours. Does that count?

went out with a couple of mates who both ended up bailing a couple of hours in and left me talking with one of their friends who i hate (but somehow doesn't realise - even though i punched him out and got him banned from a pub a few years back). him and his dad were buying me beers all night and i had to make awkward small talk about the army and sport. so yeah, it pretty much sucked balls, but at least i got some free beer.

Nothing here.  Just hanging out with some games.

Even less than nothing here. Dead tired and lacking in food. I'll make corned beef and cabbage in within the next couple weeks though. Hopefully all the markets didn't give it away to needy people in the meantime.

No big plans here either, which may be a good thing since on last year's St Pattys, I got hammered and ended up starting a bunch of unpleasant drama.

I've got to work tonight, so I celebrated by having a couple beers with my dinner when I came home from work this morning. I'm thinking about going out for chinese here in a minute, but I'm pretty sure it's going to be closed.

I had a horrific argument with my ex over the phone, though I did get to talk to my daughter briefly before that.  Good times.  Good times.

So the celebration was actually yesterday?  I thought it was over the weekend, sometime.  Not being Irish, I'm not into the St Patty's day tradition at all, though it is fairly big in this city.

Nothin' says you gotta' be Irish to put down a shot of Bushmills and a Guinness!  I'll probably do that one of these nights, though it won't go any further than that.  I just don't enjoy drinking anything beyond that anymore.

Careful, Bushmills is Protestant fare.  ;)

I wasn't planning on doing anything, but ended up meeting up with my brother and having six shots of Jameson over the course of three hours.  Normally that wouldn't be a ton, but having not eaten all goddamned day I found myself on a foreign couch this morning.  Shit.

Haha, I love Jameson too, don't get me wrong.  I'm an Irish whiskey man all the way regardless, I'll take either of those over scotch or bourbon any day.  Got to do whiskey tasting (I even have a certificate!) at the Jameson distillery when I visited Ireland.  That was awesome.  If you ever get the chance, don't pass it up.  Most people don't have that many varieties of whiskey at their disposal in one sitting pretty much ever, and as a whiskey guy, getting to try them all at once and *truly* appreciate the differences was just amazing.

I've actually heard about that.  Maybe I saw it on a travel show.  Yeah, I'm a whiskey guy, too, and I think I'd appreciate having all those choices right there.  Jealous you got to try it out.

Scotch > Whiskey

err... scotch is a type of whiskey - as in, "scotch whiskey". that's like saying lager is better than beer.

I'm drinking scotch right now.  I don't care for it.  Granted, this is probably some of the cheapest scotch known to man.

Try some Dewars.

I normally don't drink liquor at all, I prefer a nice cold beer. I'm drinking some Flying Dog right now (I think it's local to NC).

I much prefer rum and vodka myself.  Not exactly in the spirit, though.
