Topic: The Darkness is OUT!

I picked it up today and played a little bit, just through the intro part to where you check out your first darkness powers and then entering the subway. So far I'm really liking it, and nothing is really happening yet, heh. I just like the way it looks and it feels pretty solid, I'd easily play more but I'm heading over to K-Man's place as he just picked up Godhand so Im gonna go check that out.

GameStop has The Darkness listed for $30 in their current flyer (which goes from 11/2 - 11/8/2007), for the X360 version.

Yeah, I should've waited.  I still haven't even opened it.

Shame.  I've really been wanting to go at it again.  It isn't the best shooter ever, and it has a couple of niggling issues, but the atmosphere, the story, the presentation overall, and the amazing sense of emotion make it so worth it.

And Mike fucking Patton as The Darkness.  I'm sorry, but I still think that's the coolest thing ever.

It should be noted that I think Patton is a complete weirdo, and he confuses me greatly on many levels.  But I still admire his tenacity and his tremendous range as a musician, particularly a vocalist.  Even if every person in the world said that this game was worthless, I'd have played it just to hear him play what I thought was a perfect role for him.  Thankfully, the game didn't suck, and his voice work was pretty much exactly what I imagined it would be.

Yep, you can most definitely expect a (video game) sequel to The Darkness.

Top Cow Comics has confirmed it.

Top Cow's The Darkness comic book series appeared back in 1996, and was re-released during 2002. Eventually, 2K and Starbreeze Studios eyed the franchise and decided to create a video game based on the universe. In 2007, the game was released on PS3 and Xbox 360 systems, generating mostly positive feedback from both critics and the public.

Now, it looks as though we could be witnessing a sequel to the game some time in the future. The scoop on Darkness 2 emerged following Top Cow's discussion panel at this weekend's NY Comic-con.

"We can't say Darkness and video game sequel in the same sentence, so Darkness. Wink. Sequel."
