As most of y'all know, Season 2 is underway for the PC.

But, here's more -- Season 3's planned for '09.
And there's plans for console Sam and Max games, as well.

The revived Sam & Max series is arguably one of the few examples of episodic content that really works, with two strong seasons of consistent quality releases. TheBBPS.com talked to Emily Morganti from Telltale Games to fetch more details on when the next crop of episodes will come.

According to Morganti, Season 3 will be coming in early 2009, just after the Sam & Max Season One Wii compilation hits this fall. Morganti explains the choice to go with a retail disc for the Wii: "Even though we'd been keeping the episodes small so they?d be easy to download over the internet, they?re still too big to meet WiiWare?s requirements." She doesn't rule out WiiWare releases in the future, however, presumably contingent on Nintendo working out a larger storage solution for the console.

And what about other console releases? "Our tools currently allow us to develop for PC, Xbox 360, and Wii," Morganti said. "So many people had been asking for Sam & Max to come to Wii that it seemed the obvious place to start, but we're not ruling out other platforms in the future. We're interested in PlayStation, also... we want our games to be everywhere!" Unfortunately for Mac owners, "everywhere" doesn't include their box of choice right now. Morganti cites development troubles with needing to start from scratch as the reason behind scrapping plans to port games to the Mac OS. "I'm not saying we'll never do Mac games...but getting onto the consoles has been a bigger priority."

Wiiware needs to figure out how to get more content in the pipeline, but also more raw data.  Space restrictions are killing a lot of good stuff.  Be cool to see a Sam and Max retail disk for Wii, though.  That's peachy.

Seriously, why doesn't Nintendo just release a hard drive attachment?  Oh yeah, because they always have to do that shit a generation (or two) behind everyone else.
