Off to California
« on: Wednesday, October 04, 2006, 12:42:43 PM »
Yup, this will be my last transmission before I enter the heart of darkness that is Ques lair. We're going to perform a ritual to call upon the end of the world, so yea, say your last goodbyes and all that.

It will be fun indeed.  The blood of the innocent will spill out upon the earth, there will be much groaning and painy stuff, etc. etc.  Hooray!

But why is this your last transmission?  You shouldn't be leaving until like... tomorrow.  Unless I got the day wrong.  In which case our ritual is going to be a little off, being that the second ritual-person will be sitting alone in Sacramento wondering why he isn't enjoying games and booze in the comfort of the heart of darkness.

*cough*

Awws.   :-*

So... yay!  The ritual may now go as planned!  I am preparing the chilidogs and human sacrifices as we speak.

Well I made it. I was a little worried about the last flight but the flights went smoothly and I rode first class the whole way.

I played some Dead Rising because I've been dying to play it, and it was just as I hoped it could be, amazing zombie bashing fun. We just got done eating, and at the moment Que is playing his guitar right behind me and drinking booze. There is like lots of beer in his fridge, hooray beer. So I plan on drinking it all in his sleep, I mean all I have to say is he did it, whose the wiser?

You shall not have my beer.  It is sacred and for me alone.  And stuff.

It's weird posting here now and having Pyro in the other room.  It's like... how am I responding to a post he made like an hour ago?  Weird.

Of course I let him drink my beer.  I think he had 2 last night.  I had 3.  Then we went out to eat with Sy and Aimee and hung out at a burger joint until after midnight.  Went to bed about 1:50 or so.  Pyro was still up screwing around with the computer when I crashed, and I think he must have played some more Dead Rising since my amp switch has been moved to phono, which is the 360's sound option for my speaker setup.  Dunno' what time he crashed, but he's still passed out on the couch.

I might just stab him in his sleep after the night of Super Smash Brothers Melee he and Sy subjected me to on Friday night.  Those fuckers.  I'd never played it before, and I'm pretty sure I'll never play it again.  It went like this:

I got 2nd place.  I got 1st place.  I got 1st again!  Then I got third.  Then I got third the next 337 games we played over the course of the evening.  And not just by a little.  Pyro would have like +1 to +9, Sy would have -2 to +6 or something, and I think the worst I had was around -7.  Sy won some fights and such, but that was the general outcome.  I think I got into the positives maybe once, and I was just happy to break even with zero.  Oh, and technically -7 wasn't the worst.  One time I got -27, but that was after I got completely sick of the shit and just decided to see how many times I could kill myself by running off the map before the game was over.

Fuck Super Smash Brothers.  I'm going to buy a copy just so I can stomp and pee on it.

Ahh yes. Now the sig makes sense  :P

My friend got really pissed because I could rock him at SSB:M. We were pretty even at the original, but for some reason I was always really good at melee. I guess it's just a completley different game than the original.

I never played any of them before Friday.  Oh, and for the record, we played for like 3 hours or something.  So imagine how much fun it is to play a game and lose every match for 3 hours when each match only lasts 5 minutes.

Heh.  It was kinda' fun, though.  The invisible match we played on the ice climb level was nuts.

Well the trip was a fun success. I got to meet Sy finally and hanged out with Que again. We all just pretty much had a geekfest. And I have officially succumbed to Warhammer 40k. I bought some Ork Nobz, though these guys are a little too important to me to start painting on, plus they came in 5-6 pieces per Ork so I decided to hold off on them and I plan to get some Ork Boyz sometime soon. So I bought those figures, a codex, and now I need to buy paint and filing tools to clean off rough edges. Then Que introduced me to the anime Beserk, Id have never heard of it before so Que commanded me by the power of the gods to watch it. We watched like 10 episodes and now I must have this series. Im so screwed now, too much stuff to buy! Anyhow, on my last night there, me, Que, Julia, Sy, and Aimee went out and ate Thai food, then we went to this Asian marketplace and Sy showed me all the interesting and strange little foods they had. We also went to this tea place called the Double Rainbow where they had all kinds of assorted tea mixes and such where they can even put tapioca in, where Que and I proceeded to fling it through our straws in the parking lot on the way out. I had alot of fun. Can't wait to do it again.

Also if your stomach starts hurting in he next few days, it wasn't I who forwarded that idea as a practical joke. But get some immodium.

Heh.  It was fun indeed.  But you failed to mention how we stayed up screwing with Warhammer figures until 3AM the morning of your flight out, causing us all to be completely exhausted on our way to the airport.  =)  I tried to read a book while I waited to see if he made his flight, but I totally passed out in the car.  Then once I went home, I totally passed out again.  And then I decided it would be a good idea to prime my 40K figures that I'd assembled while Pyro was here, and let's just say that was a bad idea.  Not only did I get some paint on the concrete just outside my apartment (oops), I also got a bit too much paint on the figures.  Nothing too terrible, but that could have gone smoother.

Anyway... Pyro needs to come out again soon.  It was too fun.  I'm low on vacation days, but that was one of the better vacations in recent memory.

Heh, yea, we stayed up hella late. You finished assembling 20 figures and I did like 4.

Well I picked up some super glue from walmart and I re-attached the arms on those poor guys that didnt survive the trip. The stuff I got was the liquid super glue and I also found this gel super glue which was what I used. From what I can tell it worked great.

Glad you guys had fun.  I think we should plan a IGN/AOG/TME/OW meet for sometime this summer or something.  Pug, think you'll be in Canada by then or no?

As far as SSB goes, I like the original like a bajillion times more.  The smaller maps make for a more hectic and fast paced experience IMO.

Yea the original is a lot better than SSB:M, but SSB:M is still pretty fun.
