I wish PSN used points instead of money.

Sorta.

I've been addicted to Wipeout Pulse on PSP for the last couple weeks. Turns out there are some DLC packs available for it with new ships and tracks. Awesome. Only...the packs haven't been released in the US, and probably never will be. "Lack of interest" is the reason given. But thats bullshit, since the packs are already done and people have been able to use them on their US copies of the games. How hard would it be to just toss them up on PSN for the people that do want to buy them?

I can make a EU PSN account, but I can't buy anything from it since I need to use an EU PSN card or EU credit card. I wish they had set it up so buying a PSN card can be applied to any PSN account. Or...fuck all this regional bullshit and let gamers have access to everything from one account.

Frustrating. I just want more tracks.

This region 'locking' stuff is relevant to XBL as well.  I'm not sure if it affects Nintendo's network though.

That aside, I was surprised to hear that the Wipeout Pulse DLC costs money, because the Wipeout Pure DLC was free.

I have set up Asia, EU, and US accounts; all of which display prices in USD.

I've noticed some minor price differences in the listings too. For example WipEout HD is $19.99 on the US account but it costs $22.99 on the Asian account. Probably some tax related price amendments.

Idol, if you set up a European or Asian account you should still be able to use your credit card to pruchase anything. All prices are listed in USD so it shouldn't be a problem.

I know this isn't quite related, but I was really really pissed off when I found out the hard way that my 360 was region locked for movies.

You mean the drive or the media you download?  At least the HD-DVD drive isn't.  :P

The drive.

I know about the HD-DVD! I wish they'd release the Blu-ray drive already!

I doubt they will.  They've already got the whole media distribution all set up (albeit rentals).  Plus blu-ray is region locked too.
